The children have been so excited with our new voting system. They have used one cube each to show which book they liked the best.

This week was a really big week for us in FS2. The children all met each other and the classrooms seemed very full with 30 children! The children have experienced many new activities indoors and outdoors. We have started our phonics and introduced the first 5 sounds. The children love to take part in our 'Fred talk' and are getting really good at blending sounds together, eg. b-u-s bus!
We have taken some 'busy' photos to show you. We would like to say a big welcome to all our new families. Thank you for choosing High View for your child.
The children looked so smart in their new school uniforms and were very proud to be wearing them. We are looking forward to getting to know you all better and working with you and your child. We would like to say a big thank you to all the parents and carers who have supported us this year. We will miss you and the children but we think they are definitely ready for year 1!
A team of police officers visited us today. It was so exciting! We looked at different vehicles including a motorbike and an armed response vehicle. PC Needham told us all about his job and answered the many questions that the children asked. I think we could have kept them busy all day, the children were so interested and had so many questions.
We watched 3 different police dogs doing a variety of 'jobs'. They are so well trained and the children were spellbound watching them. It has been a fabulous morning! The children in FS all completed the race for life, along with some of the adults as well. They did 2 laps of the school field which is a long way for short legs! We all had a real sense of achievement when we had done!
Our trip was booked last September and we really hoped for a dry day. Unfortunately it was not to be! We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came. Not one person backed out because of the weather and everyone seemed to just make the most of the day. The behaviour of the children was fantastic and we were really proud of them. The animals were less sleepy than previous visits we have been on so maybe the rain was useful in that way. The first photo shows the extent of the rain we endured - we must be tough!
We were so sorry that our sport's day was cancelled on Tuesday but the weather was really not fit and the field would also have been slippery. Thankfully we managed to rearrange for Friday. Thank you for everyone who came and we apologise if you couldn't attend.
The FS2 children were very keen participants and set a very good example to our nursery children. Well done everyone. As part of health and sports week Freddy Fit came to visit us. He showed us some of his dance moves as a warm up and then we played a ball game where we had to aim a ball at a bucket and score. The FS2 children had the chance to lead a group and were very successful, helping the nursery children and also keeping score.
We loved the session and listened very carefully to Freddy's instructions. Please come to our school again Freddy! We have lots of aspiring paramedics in FS2! We were able to borrow a paramedic kitbag and uniform this week. The children loved trying on the clothing and were keen to see if they could lift the bag. It was very heavy! We looked at why the clothing was special and also discussed the job that paramedics do.
