We had a very colourful start to anti-bullying week! The children were very proud to show off their odd socks. Our message was 'we are all different and we are all special.'

We showed respect today to the brave soldiers who fought in the war. The children watched a beautiful short animation following a young rabbit through the poppy fields.
We made our own poppies and were very proud to wear them in assembly. We had a lovely start to our half term. Mrs Blewitt came from Bookstart to share some books and stories with us. She told the children all about the libraries in Barnsley and how many children's books they have. We looked at a library card and Mrs Blewitt told us that you can use it in any library in Barnsley. The books she read were 'Press here' by Herve Tullet, 'Animal Boogie' by Debbie Harter and 'Little Monkey' by Altes Marta. We also sang songs. The children were so excited and animated, it was such fun! Mrs Blewitt's motto is 'anything can happen in a book!'
Some children are already members of Barnsley Library service, we would really appreciate it if you could make your child a member. We are organising a visit to Wombwell library in December. We will be in touch when we have the dates arranged. Our children have really settled into our class routine and now look forward to PE. They are getting so good at undressing independently and putting on their own PE kit. This week they were developing ball skills alongside number recognition. They had to move around the hall with a partner, stopping at the number mats and bouncing their ball the correct number of times. They followed instructions and worked together supporting each other. Great team work!
Thank you to everyone who was able to support us at our class assembly. It is such an enormous challenge for the children to get on the stage for the first time and face an audience. We performed our assembly yesterday for the children in school and were so pleased with how our children joined in and sang beautifully. They were quieter today, but their concentration was fantastic. We hope you were as proud of your children as we were! We have taken some photos of some of the art work created by the children. They are also displayed in the classrooms now if you would like a closer look. Today we had our first session of 'Freddie Fit' in the hall. The children joined in so enthusiastically. I think we have a lot of aspiring dancers!
We had a very exciting day today. Claire and Emily came from 'My dentist' and taught us lots of things. We played games and even did some role play. We now know which foods are kind to our teeth and which foods are more of a 'treat'. The children were so interested and hopefully know that the dentist is not somewhere we need to worry about when we are due to visit.
The whole of FS2 took part in the warm up session and sing-song for 'Music Day.' It was wonderful to see how the children reacted. They joined in with singing the words and picked up the actions really quickly. Our children have been in full-time school for such a short time and they all gained their own certificate of participation. Well done!
Today was a very exciting day. Our first non-uniform day since starting full-time school! The children looked so different without their usual blue uniforms. The children entered the bunting competition and a winner was chosen from each class. Well done everyone!
In our maths work we have been searching around our school looking for different shapes. We went around the classroom, corridors and playgrounds. Our teachers were really impressed with how focussed and sensible we were! Here are some of the shapes we found.
