In Year 5, we came to the end of our World War 2 topic this week. To celebrate how much amazing learning we have done, we decided to throw a party, similar to those thrown in Britain to celebrate Victory in Europe. We made some wartime nibbles (including spam sandwiches) and got dressed up in our finest 1940s attire. Because we'd worked so hard, we invited our parents in to see if we could teach them some interesting facts. Please have a look at the photos below.

As part of our World War 2 topic, Year 5 went to Eden Camp. Eden Camp is an old prisoner of war camp in North Yorkshire which now houses artifacts from this era. It was a fascinating place to visit, full of huts packed with information. We all learnt something new and even met a lady (who was visiting) who was evacuated during the war! One of the highlights had to be the puppet theatre. It was such an entertaining show (even if we had water squirted at us)! This week, Year 5 (with a little help from their family) made some World War 2 gas masks. We used cards , old milk bottles and other materials to try and make them look as genuine as possible. We think we did really well following instructions. Take a look at the gallery below and see what you think! Hello and welcome to our NEW blog!
Our blog will be used to share any exciting news and our learning journey with you. We will aim to blog once a week so make sure you check regularly to see what Year 5 have been learning about! |
